At Austerity Glamour we are nostalgic for a time in our not so distant past when the pace of life was slower and the simplest of things brought the greatest pleasures
With fondness, we look back at an era when family time meant sitting together to share and enjoy a meal or switching off the television to play a board game. We hail the time when tea was taken from china teacups, cakes were baked from scratch, and letters were written by hand. We are proud of our British traditions and celebrate picnics, the races and afternoon tea
To us the past is beautiful, enchanting and glamorous and we like to seize parts of it – no matter how small – and incorporate them into our life and home
We love fine bone china and always drink our tea out of vintage tea cups. We have numerous tea sets, to suit our mood, the time of year or occasion. But our love of china doesn’t stop there: we’ve made ourselves a Harlequin Hamper out of our favourite mismatched pieces, which is always on hand to help us enjoy a spot of alfresco dining during the British Summertime
Any cups and saucers that we can’t find a home for have been turned into decorative Wild Bird Feeders, which not only help to make the garden look beautiful but are also loved by wild birds. Our linen is kept in a wartime metal trunk, and we’ve breathed new life into old gilt frames, filling them with maps, blackboards and maritime posters. Bubble bath is stored in cut glass wine decanters and at Christmas time we wrap our gifts in vintage sheet music and string
Our aim is to share our world with you and introduce a little bit of fabulous into your life and home. Each piece that we create is unique and we are always looking for vintage pieces to rescue and share
